Boring Packaging | Amazing Product

Boring Packaging | Amazing Product

Have you ever had your eyes glaze over certain products at the drugstore and wonder if anyone actually buys them? When beauty product packaging basically screams at you to buy it these days, it's pretty mind-boggling that some of these characters stick around. Just like your mama taught you as a young child, "don't judge a book by its cover". I have found that to be true with people, wine, certain beauty products and, well....books. The reason some of these powerhouse products have staying power is because they deliver. Here are 6 very groovy dudettes that I think deserve a spin on the dance floor.
1 | Psssst! Dry Shampoo Good Lord this dry shampoo has been around since before dry shampoo was a "big deal". The can honestly reminds me of an older gentleman's shaving cream. But alas! It is not shaving cream! It's a great, no-frills, dry shampoo. Slightly scented but not obnoxious and gives my hair great volume when sprayed in at the roots and brushed through.
2 | Palmer's Dark Chocolate & Peppermint Lip Butter Okay, this little beast of a lip butter smells JUST like a peppermint mocha. I ain't even lyin'. Look at the silly little tube! I mean...would you ever walk by that and go "Hold UP! I neeeeeed that lip butter!" Here's the thing though...you DO need it. It is so incredibly moisturizing and has a hefty dose of vitamin E which we all know is the anti-aging woman's best gal pal.
3 | Reviva Vitamin E Stick  Here I go about vitamin E again. I think I have a school girl crush on the stuff. I love this little stick because it's basically vitamin E in solid form. It can be applied directly out of the tube to crow's feet, your undereye area, around the lips, smile lines, and on your splitting, peeling cuticles (you know who you are!) This is ideal for travel and the price is oh so nice!
4 | CeraVe Foaming Facial Cleanser If I had to recommend one line of facial products for sensitive skin (or any skin for that matter) from the drugstore, it would be CeraVe. Their packaging is pretty 'blah' but it is incredibly high-quality schtoof. You'd be hard-pressed to find a dermatologist out there who doesn't sing it's praises.
5 | Glysolid Glycerin Cream Oh okay now, here's another silly little discus of amazingness you might pass over if you ever saw it! Glysolid is basically exactly what it sounds like. It's a solid form of glycerin cream that is excellent for severely dry, sensitive skin. It can be used on chapped skin, heels, cuticles, burns, minor scrapes and can also be used as a protective barrier against dry winds and cold temperatures. Again, excellent for travel (especially to colder climates) and is a great little addition to diaper bags for new mamas (for hands after all that hand washing!)
6 | CoTZ Face Tinted SPF Here's yet another product I thought was something else entirely when I saw it. I thought this was toothpaste when in actuality it is an incredible tinted SPF for your face that also fights the signs of aging. CoTZ has quite the cult following and for good reason. This is basically a wrinkle fighting, elasticity boosting, age mark preventing BB cream with one of the highest SPFs around. SPF 40 to be exact! What makes this stuff so great (besides the high SPF count) is the consistency of the cream. It feels like silk on the skin and blends to a sheer matte finish. Even though it's tinted, it sits invisibly on top of the skin. The tint (and the consistency) helps it sink right in without giving you that tacky sunscreen feel we all hate.

There now. Don't you feel better for giving these ugly little diamonds in the rough a "once over"? Maybe you found something in there you've been looking for all along but never gave it a chance because you were only into packaging that is Instagram worthy (don't worry, you're not alone).
